Court not the place for patients' rights

12.01.00am GMT Fri 19th Mar 2010

Commenting on the publication of the Patient Rights Bill, Liberal Democrat Health spokesman Ross Finnie said:

“We are not in any way opposed to patients having rights.

“But having to go to court to enforce your rights cannot be the way forward.

“It would be fairer to all if patients’ rights were enshrined in the standard of care to be provided by the NHS and subject to annual audit or random investigation.”
