Former Conservative candidate for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk, Chris Walker has given his backing to the Lib Dem candidate, Michael Moore.
Commenting, Mr Walker said:
"The Liberal Democrats are ahead of the game in the Borders. They know how to stand up for local interests and have positive plans to make Scotland fairer.
"Over 18 months as a candidate I felt I got to know Michael and gained a mutual respect. I believe his hard work, family values, local connections and sheer decency are what the Borders need.
"It is time to put an end to two party politics at Westminster, the two main parties have abused the power vested in them. The best option on the table to clean up politics comes from Nick Clegg's Liberal Democrats. The best option on the table to fight for local procurement and tourism is from Nick Clegg's Liberal Democrats.
"If voters in Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk want an MP who will fight for fairness and champion local issues then they should vote for Michael Moore and the Liberal Democrats."
Liberal Democrat candidate Michael Moore added:
"I'm delighted to have Chris Walker's support at this election. We share a commitment to rural communities and doing what's best for the Borders.
