Liberal Democrat leader Tavish Scott and MP for Dunfermline and West Fife Willie Rennie were on the campaign trail in Fife today.
Mr. Scott and Mr. Rennie visited Charleston Workshops, the home of the Scottish Lime Centre Trust, which promotes the use of traditional skills to effectively repair, maintain and conserve Scotland's historic stone built buildings.
Commenting after the visit, Willie Rennie MP said:
"Labour have taken Fife for granted for too long.
"We have suffered a dramatic increase in unemployment under the Labour government.
"Liberal Democrats have proposed a paid internship scheme, more college places for young people and earlier training for those on the dole.
"People who are hungry to learn should be given the opportunity to."
Commenting after the visit, Tavish Scott said:
"The recession has bitten Scotland hard and Gordon Brown must share the blame.
"He built a lop-sided economy based on phantom cash, wishful thinking- and Tory foundations.
"That's why creating the kind of skills we saw today in Charlestown is absolutely vital for Scotland's future economy.
"Labour's pledge of 100,000 new skilled jobs for Scotland is light on detail and impossible to believe.
"Only the Liberal Democrat proposals will rebuild Scotland's economy."
