Commenting on the announcement from the Scottish Government that crofters' interest rates will be cut, Liberal Democrat Rural Affairs spokesperson Liam McArthur MSP said:

"While this move will undoubtedly help some crofters the Government's stubborn reluctance to look at re-establishing loan support for crofters continues to be a source for real concern and frustration across the crofting counties.

"The timing of this decision is doubtless connected to the imminent publication of the government's crofting bill, which has been roundly condemned by crofters. It remains to be seen whether the Minister has backtracked enough to salvage anything from her bill."
