Commenting as Richard Lochhead visits Denmark to discuss additional catch quota opportunities for vessels in Scotland's fishing fleet using CCTV, Liberal Democrat Fisheries spokesperson Liam McArthur MSP said:
"Reducing discards is essential for the viability of our fleet and the sustainability of our fish stocks.
"The Cabinet Secretary must stop pretending that this will be achieved by withdrawal from the CFP. Scottish fishermen don't believe him and his own advisors don't agree with him.
"The fears about CCTV onboard vessels is that it will increase costs but bring little in return. Richard Lochhead has his work cut out to prove to Scotland's fishing fleet that it is a price worth paying."
