Commenting on the ongoing discussions between the Scottish Government and the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG) to resolve the financial crisis at FWAG, Liberal Democrat Environment spokesperson Liam McArthur said:
"FWAG has played an important role in rural development in Scotland. The joint statement issued today makes it quite clear that FWAG is being backed into a corner.
"It is equally clear that Scottish Ministers' shambolic handling of FWAG's funding arrangements has resulted in this situation.
"Ministers have put a gun to FWAG's head and asked their board to pull the trigger."
