Commenting on the news that some Scottish councils stand to lose millions of pounds after investing in Icelandic banks, Liberal Democrat Local Government spokesperson Alison McInnes said:
"John Swinney must confirm that council tax payers across Scotland will not be burdened with having to meet these losses or suffer any loss of frontline services.
"At the same time the UK Government must clarify, as a matter of urgency, if local authorities will be compensated for any losses they suffer as a consequence of events beyond their control."
