Lack of answers from Salmond about broadcasting

Liberal Democrat Culture spokesperson Iain Smith MSP criticised the First Minister for failing to give clear answers about leadership for Scottish broadcasting.

Commenting after the First Minister's statement about broadcasting, Mr Smith said:

"I was disappointed that the First Minister failed to give a clear answer to my question about what action the Government is taking to address skills and leadership in the broadcasting sector.

"The SNP has failed to engage with other parties over the mess they have allowed to develop in the creative industries. The re-organisation of Scottish Enterprise and the lack of a proper Skills Strategy have added to the confusion.

"It's vital to establish who is responsible for providing leadership to ensure that skills needs are identified. This will help Scottish broadcasting achieve its full economic potential. The First Minister failed to clarify just who is in charge."
